WCIL | To add to what Dan said, most years in late winter it is wet from either rain or snow, then typical early spring rains can further saturate. The tiles may run steady for months then the faucet shuts off and it gets hot for weeks in late June, July and August. That dries out the topsoil and eventually the subsoil will deplete and the tiles quit. Not necessarily a drought, but it's the beginning of getting dry. Tiles running is ONE indicator we have subsoil moisture, but it may not indicate moisture in the upper layers. | |
