NW Indiana | There is some severely damaged crops from too dry in IN and IL. I talked to a guy yesterday that said if it didn't rain this weekend he didn't know if a good chunk would set an ear. I drove about 20 miles of it yesterday and wouldn't say it is that bad but definitely hurt. Fields range from 8 ft to 4 ft tall and tasseled. I seen several fields that I would call 50% at the 4ft mark. The drought monitor is so off it is ridiculous. I'm on the line of hanging on but go south of me and they have had good moisture and crops look descent. Everything I have seen in IN appears to have suffered from too cold the last couple weeks of May and then the heat since. Some fields are table top but also a lot of fields in the good areas that are very uneven. Alexa says we have had 37 days of 90 or above with the record in 1988 of 48, I would say a good chance of breaking that. Its always been said a longer grain fill normally leads to more bushels, going to be interesting to see if that doesn't hold us back from what many believe is easily a record crop.
