Thanks for the info. That and car insurance has the 9-5 crowd over a barrel.

Have some friends that left Omaha, moved back up north because property tax was getting ridiculously high. Not unusual for houses in omaha suburbs to be 20k/yr.

Here in ND most homes will not have property tax due to bill passed this last biennium. But counties are already raising valuations in response. My township had valuations go up almost double, which will be unnoticed because of the state rebate. I go to the equalization meetings because I am on the board but not one protestor was there. If the rebate ever goes away there will be some people that finally notice but it will be too late. The biggest problem is we are in a society that will not question taxes - even at the local level. Which is a recipe for disaster in the long run.
