Yes but the faster usb3 ports and card readers are blue in the connector.
An external card reader on USB3 won't be significantly slower than one that is built in - they don't somehow have faster connection.
Inbuilt ones often start suffering from driver issues or internal wear eventually in my experience so I'd be in no rush to fit one if it wasn't there already.
