North Central Indiana | Not to throw a wrinkle in your thinking but…
Last year we had a kid that just graduated high school and bought himself a drone come out and learn how to run the thing on some of our fields. I mean literally besides his Dad’s little CRP patch we were the first place he flew and definitely the first place he sprayed anything besides water. Anyway, wouldn’t you know it, every spot he sprayed was at the top of our ROI for fungicide applications and that accounted for the drone charge, which his dad wouldn’t let him bill us since he was learning. All that to say, don’t over analyze everything. You can get too far into the weeds and have decision paralysis. As an aside, all our fungicide was sprayed with his drone this year. Literally the only drawback for him that I can see is it costs too much to hire it done when I can buy my own T40 drone pack from Bestway for $13k and spray on my own schedule if I decide to. Basically every farm has all the equipment needed aside from the drone and the FAA license to fly it. Add in some spot spraying of weeds and pasture, it’s a great deal. And it’s not a bad way to spend a few days this time of year
