Hennepin, IL | In a nutshell, yes. Without getting too far into the weeds and out of my paygrade, those satellites are just delivering corrections that are derived from base stations of some sort and atmospheric modeling. Each of those corrections sources will be proprietary to a point. Someone with more knowledge could probably weigh in on what each company does exactly, but they either have to own the satellites broadcasting the corrections, lease from another company, or just license another company's corrections service. I believe Deere was licensing the SF corrections at one time, then ended up buying the company. Terrastar for example, I believe is solely owned by Hexagon, the parent of Novatel. Could be all wet on any or all of that, but that's my best understanding. | |
