Subject: RE: Working with wife full time

Northern Indiana
Well, first of all I haven't always been a pastor. I've spent 25 years working with children who were special needs, regular needs, and 10 of those years as a private nanny, and as a pre-school teacher. I rest my case about wondering whether it's even worth it to make comments about children and daycare. As long as what is said is pro-daycare, then fur doesn't fly, and I don't get beaten up. You'll notice that I made the effort to keep this from becoming theologically-based. My concerns are based upon my own experiences, and not what my vocation is.

When I speak of low-quality persons, I speak of those who are not capable or skilled to be in the care of the public's children. Even the best of those who are serving in that area cannot love a child the way a mom can/does. It's just not possible. In the best of situations, daily daycare is not in the best interests of children.

God's territory is to speak the truth in love, to further His kingdom. It's not always easy, but at times it's necessary. Nowadays, if one says anything against the status quo, then we run the risk of being vilified. Much of our daycare situations today exist because of the desire for material goods and an elevated lifestyle. Many mothers work today because husbands expect them to. There are those who do have to work, and we need to do all that we can to help them, but that is not God's best for the family or society.

I serve in the ministry because God called me to it - and I do it with fear and trembling everyday. I never want to do anything to shame the Lord or cause someone harm - including babies and little children. You question me because I condemn a worldly system that helps to warehouse babies and children for much of their day and seperate them from their mothers. It wasn't too long ago that we thought that was horrible - when this practice was reported as a national policy in the Communist block. But now that we've fallen into the same practices, somehow it has become acceptable to do the same things.

If you are a Christian, you have the right to discern whether what I say is evil or godly. If you aren't, then what I'm saying is foolishness. If we're gonna talk about me as a pastor, then know that I have been called to defend, encourage, and attend to the issues that affect homes, marriages, and the family. But, the last time I checked, this is still America and I thought I had a right to express my views. You are Canadian, and can send someone who happens to be a pastor to jail if you don't like what they say, even if it should be said.
