I use Simple Green and an automotive type brush on mine. I think it helps to get the dirt off- whiter roof should be cooler.

While you're up there, look for any cracks in the sealer, screws backing out--that sort of thing. Every couple years I end up using up part of a tube of self-levelling sealant just to keep things tidy. Before applying the sealer (Looks like a tube of caulk) I clean the area with mineral spirits to hopefully get better adhesion. Don't worry a lot about cleaning off the old sealant, just another layer on top seems to work.

You might also take off the air conditioner cover and check to make sure the coils are clean. Use some commercial AC foaming cleaner there if needed and hose it off.
