Deep brain stimulation (aDBS) has offered personalized and highly effective treatment. Lots of new drugs in various stages of development as medical science has made great inroads into treatment and reining back advancement in PD.
I have several close friends/family dealing with this and the future of treatment is much brighter than even a year ago. One friend goes to boxing lessons 2x/week, has worked wonders in his balance, coordination & attitude. He was Dx’d 6 years ago. Their only real concession to his disease was to move into a single floor residence to avoid stairs to the bedroom.
Your courage in divulging your Dx to this group & expression of your despair and fears are very evident of an individual who will weigh their options and seek a course that fits your situation. Right now…I suspect it is a dark mood….but as treatment options and stage of disease progression are explored, I sincerely hope you can enjoy many more productive & happy years to come. | |
