Central Mo | Different area than you northern guys but those buildings are everywhere around here. Not as many that big but getting to be more of that size. I put up 2 smaller ones oldest one is 10 years old and the 2nd one is 8 years old. The posts are driven in the ground. When I did mine 30x50 was the only size around in that style. Then it went 70’ long and then they just kept making them longer. I just used hay tarps on mine for a cover, on the older one the tarp is getting replaced this year.
When I put mine up back then I had around $2000 in each one. I did put them up myself so I saved a little there. I actually prefer putting hay in them over a pole barn.
In our area they are hard to beat for hay storage.
The snow will stick to them in places but have yet to hear of anyone having issues from the snow or ice.
I did lose a tarp from a thunderstorm on the newer one a couple years ago. Didn’t damage any of the hoops so it wasn’t too big of deal.
Edited to add. I didn’t really give any input to OP’s question, my 30x50’s hold around 160 4x5’s, my buildings aren’t as tall as that one.
