Subject: RE: What’s the price of hay in your area?

New Enterprise,Pa.
Southcentral Pa. 40 miles north of the Mason-Dixon line. We sell 90+% of our hay as small squares in the northern Virginia area and Maryland area next to Washington DC, No shortage of money there, $6 for 1st cut grass, $9 for later cuttings 40-45# bale. $8-10 for alfalfa-grass 45-50# bale. Son does the hauling which adds about $1.60 a bale on top of the price of the hay. He hauls 360 bales on a load. Have developed a very good customer base. All horse people. Yes sometimes they can be a pain in the a-s but the money is good and have met some really nice people. If we had to sell locally we'd starve to death as people here won't pay that kind of money and I wouldn't want to try to make a go of it to make a living. Though we are selling more each year locally as people know we have it and don't sell junk.
