Chebanse, IL.....

My reply is not political, it's my observation regardless of who is running the show anywhere.

China is the world's leading mfg of smart phones. So far in 2025 it's "estimated" there are 317,000,000 (million) smart phones in the USA. I know a 100 yr old uncle that has one. We all know grade school kids that have them. As we all know, phones collect all kinds of info. Many people actually have experienced mentioning a product and then miraculously see it appear as an ad. Just a coincidence I guess.....right? Probably billlions of cell phone photos/videos taken daily in all sorts of environments from bedrooms to military airport ops. 99% of smart phones are in operation and not just sitting in a corner collecting dust.

Is there any way for Chinese to collect & assess all cell phone info & discard what's not important to them. It would take every person in China to work in the spy business.

There are a little over 1,000,000 (1 mill.) drones registered with the FAA in the USA. Of course there are many small drones not registered as well as larger drones that should be registered but aren't. However being registered doesn't mean they are flown or even flyable...they're just registered. I would guess based on my experience, a large percentage of registered drones are sitting in a corner collecting dust.

My point is, if we are worried about Chinese data collecting devices, drones should be way down the list. I have not seen or heard of any move to stop imports of Chinese (or adjoining Asian countries) cell phones. Why not start with cell phones, then move to drones after all the Chinese phones are destroyed and no longer used....here in the USA. Keep in mind, Chinese phones are probably in every country in the universe, not just USA.

As others have pointed out, our sky is covered with foreign satellites on locked geo-something orbits (never move...stay parked) collecting photo info 24x7. We should probably put a ban on them or shoot them down....right?
