grinding:
– hammer mill works fine, mix w/ other grain while grinding
– rice is hard, so watch wear plates
feeding rates:
– cattle: up to 20-30% of ration, similar to corn, but add fiber (rice low in fiber)
– pigs: up to 30-40% grower/finisher ration, highly digestible, good energy
notes:
– low fiber, so balance w/ hay or hulls for cattle
– watch for mold or rancidity if stored too long
– add a Ca source, rice is low in Ca, like corn
treat it like corn sub, ease them onto it over a week, watch manure for looseness, adjust fiber if needed. | |
