I don't want to turn this political, but I really have to question the wisdom of requiring a substance that can do close to $20K in damage that you generally fill up when you fill with fuel, and usually has the filler cap right next to the fuel cap.

It’s really bad for the planet. Yes exhaust it is cleaner as long as system functions. But it acts up almost yearly. The engine needs tens of thousands more in repairs, the cost, waste of DEF. Increased fuel use…
I bet the buddy who designed, got mandated gas can gadgets that guarantee fuel spillage.
Both should be horse whipped.
