If I could have the fill anywhere I wanted it would be on front of the hood like older Deere's.  That limits capacity though and mid-frame isn't so bad.  Dad and his cousins always complained about their 1486 being a hassle over the Deeres.  When we were running a 4255, 4850, and two 4955s you could easily fill two at one stop if not three if you parked them right.


Yes, up front, like the Deere, is good, or even better, saddle tanks that can be filled from the ground, like Case 4x4's.
