NE Iowa | I used to rent a farm that had a barn that you could drive into the loft. The center section was 2" thick lumber and both sides were only 1" thick. I would stack round bales 3 high on the whole barn with a skid steer. I had about 5 sheets of 3/4" thick plywood. I would lay the plywood sheets where i needed to drive on the 1" thick sides. It took some planning but wasn't as bad as it sounds. I had a 6 bale mover so made 2 stacks each load. Would "reset" the plywood sheets every load. I had a fairly small skid steer back then and the bales were only about 1000# each. I was always able to drive in and do most of my turning on the 2" thick center section before driving out onto the plywood covered 1" sides. | |
