East of Broken Bow | Lots of good suggestions here, can't think of anything to add, except that when you head towards Rushmore, be sure to take the route that goes through the tunnels on the way in. There are several tunnels on one of the highways leading to Rushmore, and the tunnels are pointed right at Rushmore, so that as you go through the tunnel, you are looking right at the faces. If you go the wrong way, you will miss that effect. Click a picture at the right time, and it looks like a picture of Rushmore framed by the tunnel walls.
If you are that close, check out Crazy Horse. We went there a few years ago, and if you go, check out the Native American museum. When we went there, there were native Americans walking around that would tell you about their history and culture, very interesting. It was slow when we went, and a couple of them didn't seem to mind visiting with us for maybe 15 minutes, chatting about the 'old ways'. | |
