Chilliwack BC
The Kinsol Trestle is sort of between Butchart Gardens and Nanaimo. I know you said no hiking, but its a rail bed that's flat and smooth and only a 2 mile round trip walk.

I don't know how far off the beaten path you want to get or if you wan to take the Trans-Canada to Hope then the Coquihalla to Kamloops. Here's some other scenic options

From Nanaimo, ferry to Horseshoe Bay, then north to Squamish, Whistler, Mount Currie, Lilloet, Lytton.

Or if you want to go through the Valley, its worth seeing the Othello Tunnels in Hope. Like the Kinsol Trestle its a level smooth walk.

If you take the Trans-Canada through the canyon from Hope, Hells Gate is worth stopping at.

A few options if you take the canyon

Spences Bridge, Merritt, Kamloops -
Ashcroft, Logan Lake, Kamloops - Logan Lake is a large copper mine you can see from some viewing areas.
Cache Creek, Whalachin, Kamloops
93 Mile House, Bridge Lake, Little Fort

There's 4 of us on this site from around here within a mile or so of the Trans-Canada.
