Subject: RE: Kerrville Texas

South Texas
It rained 20" between Marble Falls and Austin. The flood gates on Lake LBJ had been open for some time before, as by the time the Llano river water hit Lake LBJ the lake water level had dropped maybe 1.5'. LBJ is a constant level, power plant cooling lake but is able to provide some flood control. The water from the upper part of the Colorado river, which joins the Llano in Lake LBJ, was caught by Lake Buchanan, which did not release any. So the flow through the flood gates on LBJ is just a portion of the water going through the Colorado river in the video. Most of it is the local rainfall that fell below Lake LBJ. All that water was then caught and held by Lake Travis. Our flood control lakes remain at very low levels. I think Lake Travis went from 50' low, to 40' low, maybe a little higher. But full level in the lake is way below what it can hold for flood control. Similar situation with the water from Kerrville on the Gaudalupe river, it was all caught by Canyon Lake, which came up only 10' or so, which may get it high enough to open some boat ramps.
