If and when you get that letter stating the problem and $0 balance, put it in a safe place….just in case.
Had a similar issue one time, but way less $$. Had it cleared up, but somehow it popped up again a few months later, and had to get it corrected again.
Put with all your important papers, I dealt with an old bill when settling mom’s estate.
The debt had been satisfied years ago but showed up out of nowhere.
I tried to settle with a collection agency that was extremely intimidating and finally threatened to sue the estate.
I was calm throughout the negotiations up until that and demanded we go to court to prove the debt was real.
Suing the estate never came up again and I never paid them a dime.
Took 6 months longer to settle her estate. |
