Subject: RE: Suderman yield model

yields are very dynamic. locally 15, 20 yrs ago the pioneer dealer gave out little plaques if you broke 200 "im in the 200 bushel club!" today guys would be embarrassed to receive such a certificate. last year i was more in the "150 bushel club" but not terrible far away dekalb had north east iowa customers in the "300 bushel club" the stars just lined up for them.

"renk torkleson" dug up roots a couple weeks ago and reported at that time roots on this crop were deeper than the 2024 crop (wet conditions) had ever gotten. hence the saying "plant in the dust..." knock wood, a derecho could wipe it out in an hour on any day. raising 200 bushel crops are easy except last year for us was next to impossible.

like breaking the 4 minute mile run, after that "impossibility" was once achieved then everyone started doing it, your reporter excluded :-) here we are post july 4th and the possibility of substantially smashing through trend yields is still on the table. as a armchair agronomist it`s exciting, as a marketer i`m afraid there wont be much bread on the table in the coming year. better wait another year before i tell my off farm boss to "shove it". :-)
