Parker, SD | I worked at a shop, the local big name fuel chain in town had a delivery driver dump def in the bulk diesel. Lots of trucks and pickups coming in on the hook, some made it 50+ miles, some they shut down before they ever started. Fuel chain stood behind there mistake if you could prove it. Some guys got complete new fuel systems before they would run, others just flushed the tanks and sent it. Obviously there are only so many sets of injectors and fuel pumps in town.
The big semi tanks have a magnetic ring in the def tank filler, the corresponding bulk nozzle has a magnetic pickup, if you stick said nozzle in the aluminum fuel tank this would not allow it to pump. Of course the system is much different on the smaller vehicles. I'm surprise they haven't developed some type of quick connect fill the def jugs could mas produce, which would solve multiple issues, spilling while filling and it wouldn't fill until you have connected to the right port | |
