I believe there is a minimum rpm required to engage separator. The sun has set many times since ours failed so can't remember all the details and it didn't totally quit just when the engine rpm were raised. Could hear the eop relay chattering. I remember it kept trying to set the park brake. Had to idle it to the shop.
