| I serviced and sold vertical mixers for years, and there is a big difference from one mixer to another when it comes to horsepower requirements. Penta likes to make a low mixer with similar capacities as their competitors by elongating it front to back and narrow down the center, and as your wet load comes around the front and back, it gets wedged in the sides, creating a power drain. The other thing to look for is they have a bolt on kicker to help unload the mixer when it is near empty and have seen them installed wrong from the factory which will make a 70 hp requirement turn into over 200 hp especially with a wet heavy load such as you are mixing. It has been said in the thread already, but knife, quantity, position and style combined with ledger plate position make a huge difference.
