Subject: RE: electrical question

Do you have any other sources of electricity? E.g. power from another transformer.

The reason I ask, is because I had something similar with sparking. My house is supplied by one transformer, while my metal pole barn hayshed is from another separate pole/transformer (three phase, but that shouldn't have caused this problem). I hung solar panels on the side of my hayshed; they are all connected to the ground from the house. It was later in the day when they went to hook up the ground wire on the first solar panel on the far end of the hayshed (120' long). The electrician saw a spark, seems around 3 volts of 'stray voltage' was coming through hayshed. He cut the ground line at the transformer pole (where the 3 phase transforms where installed), was pulling 3.5-4 volts there.

Electric inspector came out, checked everything out on my end, found no problems (had 'stray voltage' with all my mains disconnected). Hooked up all the grounds to the solar panels and let it go at that. Should mention electric sub-station is 400' from the three phase and maybe 700' (300' farther/3 poles) to house transformer (following the wire).
