Subject: RE: PENTA 5420 TMR overloading my Deere 6120R

If the wagon is a new penta can it be the penta 5240 ? Pentas new 40 series are great units . They have a welded stainless bottom to their auger and a swept ahead design that helps funnel feed to the center with less horsepower. I have customers running 10k rations with a new penta 5240 and 6420 Deere , single speed , 540 pto .

I would have you check on the knives you have on there . About half way down there is a knife spot that can come from factory with a very aggressive knife that is extra long and has bigger serrations . In my opinion they are too aggressive and don’t improve hay processing; they are just a power drain and hard on your tractor, especially with wet hay . I would take that aggressive one out and leave off or put in another standard one like is on the top 3 knives of the auger . Let me know how that goes
