Subject: Ag Leader Surespeed

Creighton, NE
Currently have a JD 1770nt with a rawson hyd drive that we would like to update to electric meters for next year. Our fertility program includes putting 3-4 gal of low salt in furrow and with current system we have been using the exapta valion seed tube guards to accomplish this. Our Ag Leader dealer is telling us that with the sure speed we cannot use that type of system due to the belt possibly picking up fertilizer and it is my understanding that the seed tube guard is different and the valions would not work. We've tried the Keeton seed firmers in the past but have some silt loam soils that presented problems with dragging seed, so not really an option with that system.

We have mostly Ag Leader on the farm and would like to stay with that, but would certainly be open to other options. It looks like Deere has a in furrow system with their new high speed meter and maybe others do also. Another option would be to just update the drive to electric and use the existing meter. I have talked to Exapta and Totally Tubular but neither have any options for this AL high speed meter.
