| I'm thinking it's the steering valve under the hood, but I've been wrong before. Coming up to the headlands it takes a little longer to turn and it takes more effort to turn the steering wheel. Use to be able to turn the wheels with 1 finger with the tractor sitting still. Now, it takes a fair amount of effort to turn the steering wheel while sitting still. Cold or hot oil makes no difference.
A few years ago(3-4) the wheels would turn themselves to the left while sitting still. I put a used steering valve on and it took care of the problem. Metering pump was leaking a little, also had that rebuilt.
I would remove the steering valve and inspect it but I'm thinking it's a waste of time. Probably valve and housing getting worn? Anyone have good luck with a new aftermarket steering valve? Looks like they're around $600. Or should I spend the 1,200 and get one from deere? Or maybe the steering isn't my problem? | |
