| I insure a few custom spraying operations. First, check with your farm carrier if they can add a General Liability policy to your insurance package. That would probably be the cheapest and easiest option. From there, you need to know that (at least in Iowa) there are not many standard carriers that will write a custom sprayer without previous experience. The argument is that you have previous experience, and have ran the sprayer for years, but they are saying there isn't insurance experience for the new business. That will likely put you into the Excess and Surplus markets, which will require your check book. Your agent, if he's an independent agent, should have access to these markets to see what is available.
I think I wrote three new ones this spring alone, all got placed with Scottsdale with a rather large premium in comparison to the policies that are written attached to their farm insurance.
