Subject: RE: JD 3130?

We had a 4020 and a 2840 on our dairy for many years.
The 2840 was nearly the same power on PTO only work such as a forage blower.
The 4020 was noticeably better on drawbar tasks.
Still have the 2840 , which has been a very good tractor.
The 2840's were known for internal hyd lines leaks which gave them a bad name. If the lines were updated, I preferred the hydraulics of the 2840 over the 4020.
Our 4020 was a early model with controls on the dash.
One difference with American 2840's were that they didn't have a parking brake. Most were updated to a parking brake in the field.
The problem with 2840 hydraulics was they were sold not able to run an orbital motor without buying the kit to return the oil to the filter cover.
With the kit installed, it has great hydraulics for a tractor of the late 70's
