| With current cattle prices they would be at the next sale.
When cattle get cheap do like my Dad did.
He had pasture for 35 pair or so. He ran around half that. All very tame cows. Go check them if you feel like it.
If they save a calf they save them, if the calf dies, it dies.
Dad never went any where but could have taken a few days or even a week and the cattle would be fine. I don't recall him checking them during planting or harvest, but he probably figured my brother and I were doing it.
In fact, I know guys who only check them every couple weeks, so it can be done.
And yes, 40 years later I still miss the cows, and even the hogs.
I don't miss the chores and frozen waterers though.
