west central Iowa | If you decide to put culverts in, maybe go a couple 3’ culverts in the bottom. Small enough that you don’t have to worry about calves walking through them, and you don’t want a low area that holds water that cows can tromp into a sh**hole and get calves sick. I would go with longer culverts and cover with county concrete rip rap, then do fence of choice across the top. Make a designated low area for water to go over with rip rap splash pad on bottom side. Water will go over, it’s just a matter of time. If you do the longer culverts it is handy to drive across them with a gator to check fence or cattle.
We had to cut a tight hole in sheet of plywood and concrete around whistle to keep water from running down the outside of the culvert. Also nice to put something below culverts to keep them from gouging a big hole below them. Just something to dissipate some energy. Good luck! Fence looks very nice!! | |
