MN | They work well in this situation, you may not get the full depth, but most likely the original threads weren't full tapped either. Full strength is after about 6 threads
The tap used in helicoils is a bottoming tap. It has a much shorter taper than one you buy at a hardware store.
Drill with the supplied bit, tap to the helicoil size with the tap provide, and use the tool to insert the helicoil and break the tab off. EZPZ | |
