There are a bunch of little things that people do that make a difference in the life of a component, but it takes years to notice so many discount those things as hogwash.
Yes, cranking up AC and the high beams just after starting isn't going to kill the alternator anytime soon, but it may shave 10-20 percent of its life expectancy off. To those who trade often this won't ever be a problem for them, so they don't see the validity of the argument. Plus it's hard to guage what "normal" service life is.
So to answer your question, yes, it makes a difference. No, it's not enough of a difference to matter to 98 percent of the population. | |
