You need to understand that Medicare and Medicaid provide 60-67% of all income to every Medical entity from Hospitals to the local medical practice. The financial folks that run these organizations have to balance their budget on this fact and they do.
The Government distorts the true cost of everything in Medical care. The Government basically says to everyone we are going to pay X for Procedure Y. We also demand that Our price X is discounted by lets say 60% (I do not know the real %) So if your the finance guy at the local hospital and you know that Medicare/Medicaid is going to pay you $1000 for something and you have to give the government a 60% discount what is your list price going to be for that procedure? ($1667) The government goes and makes it even worse. They also say everyone else has to be charged the full list price for this same procedure unless there is a pre-negotiated price between the medical provider and an approved Health insurer (this is where Blue Cross and Blue Shield and all employer sponsor health insurance fit) you have to be law charge the full list price. So the dude who is uninsured and has some procedure done is charged the make believe list price because no Medical provider is going to risk having the Federal Government going after them. The medical industry wouldn't know what to do with all of the money if they collected the full list price from every procedure code.
Everything in our medical care industry that is messed up is messed up because of the Governments involvement and it will never ever be fixed as long as the Government is involved.
Wait till they roll out Medical AI in the next decade or so to replace actual doctors and PA's etc. in an effort to cut costs.
