Subject: Seed oil vs beef tallow debate

Pittsburg, Kansas

Most of the links I have provided on the subject of vegetable oils (oils made from seeds) have been pretty negative. One thing I like about Nick Norwitz is he tries his best to stay neutral and just look at the data available. Of course he is human and every human, in my opinion, develops some bias as soon as they learn a little about a subject. Their bias tends to be towards what they think they have learned. Human nature. But some people are better at keeping an open mind to information that is in opposition to their bias than others. I think Nick does a pretty good job at that.

One thing I have learned (or at least think I have learned) is it is not so much the high Omega 6 content of the seed oils that carries the potential negative health effects, but perhaps the oxidation of the molecules. Nick talks about this in his presentation showing that both high Omega 3 AND high Omega 6 in our cells are both "associated" (not proven) with better heart health.

Anyway, here is the presentation.
