south texas | I'm assuming 24 or 12 speed? If it's a powershift, ignore this.
Need to check clutch pressure vs standby pressure. They should be within 10% of each other. I can't remember exactly but I think stand by pressure should be 270 psi. Verify that with jd. If your standby pressure is correct and clutch pressure is not, your clutch valve is not working. Most likely the fork on the valve has bent or broken. Remove your clutch cable and be sure the cable isn't froze up keeping the valve open. If removing clutch cable from valve doesn't bring up clutch pressure, need to remove the transmission valve body. On an 8970, it can be done in the tractor without removing any other components. It's tight work but I've done it several times.
