At first you said 50/50.. but then you state that he basically physically does nothing... saying the tractor going down was the deal breaker for him... but looks like he doesn't use a tractor.. unless maybe tillage... that's the only crop operation I didn't see you mention being sole performer of. So is it really you and he split inputs and receipts down the middle? If that's the case, he has no expenses this year if he's not been billed or paid for anything, aside from whatever fuel/wear&tear hours he put on this tractor this spring if he was doing tillage.. in that case, I'd figure up a fair estimate of what he may have spent in fuel + a reasonable amount for wear/tear and a little labor, and pay him for that and be done. That would leave little argument come fall for him to claim he's owed anything, especially if you're 100% on the farms at FSA. The fact that he thought to contact FSA to remove himself from those farms somewhat indicates he doesn't plan to hit you up for a dime, but you never know. It also gives me a little more serious concern about his health as well, as in maybe he thinks he won't be around to collect on any potential payments and you're left to figure that out.
All these years and my whole life of being around my uncle has taught me this. I care about him and do love him but I feel as if the only person he loves, is himself. He’s a good worker until he’s upset or jealous. When chit breaks he gets bent out of shape. “I’d” and “Me’s”, is basically his way of thinking. When things are good, he brags but only if he’s in the spotlight. I have disposed this about him for a long time and it shows his ungenuinous. I’ve watched him go through two divorces and at one point he blamed me, for both. We’ve been 50/50 on rent, seed, fertilizer, fuel, chemical, various pieces of equipment and parts, every year, for 25 years. He paid half rent and I’m assuming half bill to chemical company and half the bill for April and May of Nutrien. Not sure about his half of June statement from Nutrien or his half of Pioneer seed bill. | |
