 Madison Co. Virginia | Relax the tension completely, by removing the tensioner bolt and pushing the front idler back as far as it will go.
Set the track on the drive cog and rear idler first. Get the side of the track started on the front idler, and push it on until the track teeth are against the idler.
Place several 1.5 to 2 inch iron pipes between the teeth on the track, just below the front idler. Start the skidsteer, and spin that track backward to run the pipes up into the front idler.
Push the track back onto the idler so it lines up, then run the track forward again to remove the pipes. Tension the track.
This can all be done with zero sweat, if you have another nimble skidsteer and a bale spear on-site. The bale spear works perfectly for placing the track, and can push the track into position on the front idler if a block is used to protect against the sharp tip of the spear.
