Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | In general, I would say used grain bins to take down, move and reassemble at another distant site.
The new location may need a new base, new bolts and other supplies. The labor is increased compared to new, since the used bin likely needs to be disassembled at the original site and reassembled at the new location. Certain equipment and prior experience is often required. .
With all that being said, my Great Nephews are involved in such a project at this time. One of them purchased a farm place where the previous bins had been removed but the bases still remain and are in good condition. The used bin was purchased on a retirement farm auction reasonably close by on the former owner's property. The bin is the proper size for the base and decent capacity but probably not suited for the new land renter. The bin includes a full floor, fan transition, unloading auger etc. The auction price was very low.
They removed the floor yesterday and brought it home on two trailers. The plan is to return with their telehandler to raise the bin slightly and remove the sheets starting at the bottom and progressively lower the bin. Possibly the roof can be left partially assembled.
The old saying here is that you must get a used bin essentially free and be willing to work for little or nothing before considering such a project. I suspect it will work for them but may not be as "cheap" as it first appeared.
