New Castle, PA | Have welded many over the years but not a 40' , it is a temporary solution at best , not a permanent repair. However at harvest time you do what you have to do to keep going . The cutterbar splice kit is a better solution than a weld . Keep the splice as far away from the drive head as possible . If it is broke closer to the head end , move the longer unbroken piece to the drive end and use the splice kit closer to the undriven end reattaching the shorter piece that was originally at the head end. All this assuming you mean the cutterbar knife back , not the bar that the guards bolt to . Good luck | |
