North Central US | When you use a big auction company or any auction company, aside from it sounds like they send a team out to at least wash and clean your equipment, has there ever been one that will buff, wax, possibly redecal, the equipment?
I was looking at a nice lineup of older IH tractors and noticed on a few of the pictures there appeared to be something white on the rubber seals. I figured with how nice the line is, the guy must have waxed the equipment regularly to keep it looking like brand new, bright red and all.
Then...a picture of the top of the hood. More of the same shade of white on the exhaust and clamp, along with extremely sun faded pink in a perfect outline around the clamp. Another picture shows the hood open to show something on the engine, but you can see the night and day difference of where the buffer couldn't reach in the creases of the metal. Sun faded pink again.
So now I'm curious if the owner did this or if it is standard for Steffes and other large auction companies to do that, a quick and dirty buff and polish. I've heard of the "Richie Brothers overhaul"(quick & poor paintjob) but not buffing everything a buffer can reach and leaving the rest. | |
