Yeah, they're a tax. It costs their people money. It brings revenue to the government at the cost to their businesses and citizens. JUST LIKE HERE! 

Europe often has maybe 2-3% "import duties" or Tariff's. I imagine it helps fund their inspection bureaucracy. I dunno. 

But the U.S. punitive tariff's do one thing, Cost businesses and people an inordinate amount of money. It's just an extra tax. That's all. I mean, how hard is this? What's the point?
