It is described as a "saltwater disposal site:" https://www.isssource.com/fire-explosion-at-mt-oil-storage-site/ Small tank situations are part of what makes Cody Fire School unique in the area - they have a propane simulator setup (which is actually fueled with LPG, both liquid and gas), which allows FF's to get live fire training on dealing with LPG tanks. The first time I was in the LPG fire simulator, we advanced on the valve we needed to secure with a 1.75" fog nozzle set to a 45 degree cone, and if you shut off the hose, you'd feel the heat come through your bunkers in seconds. The exercise was basically for three men to advance a hose with a fog nozzle, and the man at the head of the stack was to manipulate the valve while the two backup men kept the flame off the valve with the fog nozzle. With enough water (and pressure), you could drive the flame off the fuel, and shut the valve. A very interesting training exercise. In the fire in the video, there's not much a typical VFD can do other than position uphill/upwind, and watch it burn out. |
