I am just a hack also.
One can cut the nuts off a bolt and reuse the bolt with propane.
I haven't used my torch for cutting in a couple years and managed to do just that.
FYI, I kept the partial nuts as proof, so I am not confident I could do it again.
I had acetylene and propane both, but when someone stole my acetylene outfit I didn't replace it.
I had more trouble with tips with the acetylene. I don't know if that was from folks that didn't know how to use it or just the nature of the beast.
