S Illinois | It’s usually July that’s not recommended to hedge new crop in because an inverse can rip one’s face off when the roll comes. Nothing wrong with Sept to price old crop off of. Just keep in mind it’s usually the weakest of all the contract months and can really bottom out in Aug. Also it normally goes off in a carry to Dec so even if they let you roll, it’s a lossing proposition. It comes down to what’s your alternative. You are basically playing chicken with a weather scare.
