We found the easiest was just the garman out of the truck and stuck to windshield.  Most all the trails in the black hills are off forest service roads or fire roads. They are all gps mapped so you always can get home. That is for the northern districts don’t know about around the southern districts tho.  Rapid to hill city and north is the area we did and put on over 900 miles total on the talon.  Better get Wyoming as well if on the north ,mighty easy to jump borders and not know it.  We get sd permits along with Wyoming. Always go to Sturgis but been doing more Side x side than road bikes last couple years..  hope this helps a little.
