Can you modify the end of the male fitting to trap the o-ring? Most likely will need a smaller cross section o-ring but if you can make the fitting trap and compress the o-ring as it bottoms out in the flow meter, you should have a very good connection.
Look at o-ring boss or o-ring face hydraulic fitting.
JB and others make a plastic weld epoxy. I have a saddle tank I patched a hole knocked in it up high about 10 years ago. Stuck tight and has stayed put with no leaks.
