Subject: RE: cover crop in corn

east central WI
I've been doing it for 3 years now. I'm in a soil health program and been droning into corn and soybeans with great success. 30 lbs. rye, clover and radish. So it comes out to about 27 lbs. rye per acre. Last fall was dry around here and yet the Rye this spring was dense enough to make me worry a little. I droned that last fall into standing beans. The year before i droned into standing corn. moisture was better and clover and rye took off. I had my seed dealer come out this spring to check corn population. half the field was cover cropped and the other half was soybean stubble. Population counts were the same but one thing when we dug up some corn plants on CC my dealer goes, Jeez you have a lot of worms!! That put a smile on my face
