Reading the part about your Lady Friend did not scream out "Scam" to me, but the situation sure sounded odd to me. But I agree with others..... you should be aware of Scams.

Having said that..... you say your worked 40 years as a Service Manager for a John Deere dealership, and you are living on Social Security ?  Didn't you have a retirement plan set up and payed into while an employee at the dealership?  What you write may be accurate, but I will say....the idea of living on just Social Security doesn't cut it anymore.  To others who are reading..... you need to read his situation and make sure you are putting something aside for your retirement years.  Don't plan on Social Security as your sole retirement income.  It can be a portion of it, but each person needs to plan ahead and put some aside for those retirement years.
